Sustainable Agriculture is made up of multiple facets, the first being soil fertility management. We grid soil sample every field every year. Our on-staff agronomist evaluates the results and gives recommendations for application. By using university tested and approved software every field has a prescription to dictate application. This is a very important link to being good stewards of the land. We strive for balanced crop nutrition by applying proper amounts according to these prescriptions.

Another facet is our tillage practices. We are currently strip tilling in the spring, which allows less compaction through minimum disturbance of the soil. Looking ahead to planting, specific varieties are being categorized to fit our individual fields. With each variety we put together our post planting fertility program. We also vertical-till the soil in the fall for residue management while applying cover crops.
